I’ve been entranced with the promise of Scatternet (my idea) and Daemon for 30 years. Scatternet was the distributed network that was DeFi: pervasive, distributed, and self-healing. Hard-line uplinks brought up and shared. This came to me in the days of poor home internet, but beyond net access, why have it?
Then I read Daemon. Skip the story drama, and center in on the infrastructure. It was building communities of people. Their skills were gamified: quests, skill, advancement, and social security and protection. I’ve seen forms of it in employee-owned companies, letters of understanding, no-supervisor businesses. Keep businesses smaller, flatter and more agile. Keep them serving people and community, and set up resilient communities that are as independent as possible from provided services. On the Daemon side, get the corporations efficient, but resilient. Per se, don’t let them be evil.
I see this as providing capital, infrastructure, and software. Let them do the work they are good at, and reduce the overhead and regulation to a bare minimum. Fund workers’ 401(k)s and Roths, and have SSI to supplement those who don’t have a living retirement. It needs a crypto. Not sure if it’s a stablecoin or a non-inflationary coin like Bitcoin. If a stablecoin, what backs it? DeFi banking, where banks compete for your business. Basically, restore capitalism, or at least keep large distortions out of it.
Where do you start in that? Business services that make starting, running and growing a business easy? Invest in equity, up to 20 to 30%. Do lead generation for the companies so they have constant business? How do you start this flywheel, and include both Darknet citizens and non-Darknet? How do I integrate functions like Alpha School education and Jim Collins’s "find your frames"? Drive your people, from cradle to grave, to be "better," more content people, doing and living great lives while still driving the world forward.
This needs so much work, and are there others doing the same thing?
